Welcome to Year 2
During this year we build on and consolidate the learning achieved in Year 1. Our aim is for the children to be independent learners who are confident to accept a challenge and who are willing to take a risk. They will develop their resilience and be able to use all available resources to make informed choices.
Throughout the year we aim to prepare the children for transition to Year 3 and develop close relationships with the Junior school children and staff in order for this to be seamless.

Great Fire of London
Year 2 have loved learning about The Great Fire Of London this half term. They developed their creative writing skills by writing diary entries, imagining that they were children living in London in 1666. They also used drama as a way of exploring how people must have felt and what they would have done to save themselves and others. In music they have used instruments to create crescendos and diminuendos to represent the fire spreading and then dying away. Their favourite Great Fire of London topic memory is learning a song called ‘In 1666’ which we would like to share with you here!
